How much does Etsy take per sale in 2026?
On a typical organic (non-ad) sale, Etsy takes roughly 10–11% of the order total: a $0.20 listing fee, a 6.5% transaction fee on the item price plus shipping, and payment processing of 3% + $0.25. If the order came through Offsite Ads, add another 12–15%, bringing the total to 22–26%. On a $30 order, that's about $3.11 organic or $6.71 with a 12% ad fee.
Does Etsy charge the transaction fee on shipping too?
Yes — since 2018, the 6.5% transaction fee applies to the item price AND whatever you charge for shipping. That's the fee sellers most often forget. If you charge $25 for an item and $5 for shipping, the transaction fee is 6.5% × $30 = $1.95, not 6.5% × $25 = $1.63.
What is the Etsy Offsite Ads fee and can I opt out?
Etsy advertises your listings on Google, Facebook, Instagram, and Pinterest. When a buyer clicks one of those ads and orders within 30 days, you pay an Offsite Ads fee: 15% of the order if your shop made under $10,000 in the past 365 days (you can opt out in Shop Manager → Settings → Offsite Ads), or 12% if you made over $10,000 (participation is mandatory). The fee is capped at $100 per order.
Is the $0.20 listing fee charged once or per sale?
Both, effectively. You pay $0.20 when you create a listing (valid four months), and when an item sells, Etsy automatically renews the listing for another $0.20. So for a shop that keeps selling, each sale effectively carries a $0.20 listing cost — which is how this calculator counts it.
How do I calculate my actual profit on an Etsy sale?
Take your total order revenue (item price + shipping charged), subtract all Etsy fees (listing + transaction + payment processing + any Offsite Ads fee), then subtract your own costs (materials, packaging, postage you pay). What's left is your true profit. Divide it by revenue and multiply by 100 for your profit margin. This calculator does all of that for you instantly.
Why does my Etsy deposit not match my sales total?
Because Etsy deducts its fees before depositing. Fees accumulate in your Payment account and are netted out of your sales, so a $500 sales week might deposit only $440–450. Add materials you paid for out of pocket, and it's easy to overestimate your earnings — which is exactly why tracking true profit per product matters.
